Case Study: Debt Collection Made Simple

Published On: June 19, 2024

A prominent Grandcom Client which focuses on debt collections in South Africa faced significant challenges with its traditional collection methods. For years our Client relied on sending collection notices via traditional postal services and manual telephone calls. This approach was not only time consuming and expensive but also proved to be inefficient, with many letters getting lost or ignored by Debtors and telephone calls not getting answered. Additionally, tracking the delivery and read status of these notices was practically impossible.

With the ever increasing costs of postage and printing, alongside the growing demand for eco-friendly on demand engagement solutions, our Client knew it was time for a change. The primary challenge was to modernize our Clients debt collection processes, making it faster, more efficient, and cost-effective.

Our Client partnered with Grandcom to transform their debt collection processes and help with their digital transformation journey by revolutionizing traditional communication channels.

Payment screen mobile phone

Instead of sending out collection notices via traditional post, Grandcom enabled the Client to send digital collection notices directly to their Debtors mobile phones via Message link SMS & Email. This ensured instant delivery, with the added advantage of being able to track the status of the messages, including delivery confirmation and read receipts. This allows our Client to monitor which Debtors have received and opened their notices, enhancing the follow-up process. The digital notices include a secure link to an integrated payment gateway, enabling customers to settle their debts quickly and securely. This functionality ensures that customers can make payments directly from their mobile devices, simplifying the payment process and increasing the likelihood of timely payments without the need to download any additional apps or software.

Ensuring the security of Debtor data is paramount, Grandcom’s solution also incorporates password protected access to the digital notices, safeguarding sensitive information and complying with data privacy regulations.

The results of implementing Grandcom’s solution are remarkable, our Client saw a 30% increase in their collection ratios within the first few months and by eliminating the need for printing and postage, our Client also experiences substantial cost savings.

Grandcom’s innovative solution successfully transformed our Client’s debt collection process, showcasing the power of digital transformation in enhancing efficiency and customer satisfaction.
